The Prairie Kids Chorus is a nurturing youth choir striving to create a supportive singing environment where youth will learn to match pitch and discover the joy of singing together. In full group rehearsals, the choir with PLUS members, learn to sing in unison. This group is a great option before or in conjunction with Private Music Lessons in any instrument. The repertoire includes folk song, musical theatre, and classical.
Why Sing?
Choral singing has been linked to improved mood, focused attention, deep breathing, social support, and cognitive stimulation. Sounds great, right? This is a chance for your child to learn how to sing, which is a skill that lasts a lifetime. Not only will your child be a part of an activity linked to health and happiness, but they will also learn the proper vocal technique.
The Prairie Kids Chorus is for ages 6 - 14. This will be a really fun class building on the singing and games learned in Introduction to Music. Songs are taught with movement and games. Everyone is welcome. No previous singing experience is required and there is no audition. The repertoire will cover seasonal songs, musical theatre, and some classical pieces.
Rehearsals are every Monday at 6:00 pm at the Conservatory of Performing Arts, University of Regina
PRAIRIE KIDS CHORUS PLUS is for children ages 10 - 14. Rehearsals are extended for this group until 7:30 pm to learn music theory through singing.
